A Bit About Her
Sylvie Win Szyndlar, who goes by Sylvie Win, has had a passion for dance from a very young age. She began by drawing inspiration from her sister Ellary Day, who is currently studying ballet in New York City. Sylvie Win has developed as a dancer through numerous national and international training opportunities and competitions.
On the stage or on the dance floor, Sylvie Win is known for gorgeous lines, expressive performances noted as “soulful and heartfelt”, strong control, and versatility. Even though Sylvie Win has a strict Vaganova ballet foundation, she studies multiple genres of dance. Sylvie Win feels her largest strength as a dancer rests in her ability to hear the music and just respond to the music, moving in her unique way and emoting what she feels in the song. Off the dance floor, Sylvie Win is known for her quick mind, soul of a creative artist, thoughtful heart, infectious giggle, Navy SEAL level determination, and extreme loyalty to those close to her.
Sylvie Win gets a lucky elephant gift with each major dance event. The gift may be a simple elephant card or an elephant stuffed animal. She collects her elephants as she relates greatly to these powerful giants. Elephants are known for their extreme intelligent, ability to memorize and retain even small details, close-knit groups, thick skin (to protect against the sun), and fierce loyalty.
Sylvie Win has high dance dreams. She dreams of becoming a principal in a major ballet company, dancing both classical ballet and contemporary. She hopes to become a truly memorable dancer – one whose performances make a lasting impact.

“Among the riveting performances that enthralled even the most jaded balletomanes was 9-year-old Sylvie Win Szyndlar’sinterpretation of “Swan””

Best Advice and Thoughts for Other Dancers:
“My mom use to always ask us, “What are the most important things?” We said effort and attitude. I gave those same answers for years. But now that I am older, I know my mom was actually right. Effort and attitude are the most important things. The rest will come because of your effort and attitude.”
“I put my horse blinders on. I block out all the noise around me. I have big dreams and if I want to achieve them, I need to stay true to myself.”
“Most people think I am older than I am, because I am tall. I never correct them. I would rather them think I dance like a teen and then they later find out I am nine.”
“When I was five, I moved to a new company. That company only put me in one ensemble and I was in the way back. I still loved it. I danced my heart out. I also happened to place really well in competitions that year. You can be a back row dancer and win the biggest awards. You can be the youngest person and get the solo part. Don’t let others limit you. Work hard, be kind, work even harder, and always, always believe in yourself.”
